To determine paternity we test 16 genetic locations and independently
run every test twice. This is to ensure that the results obtained are
at least 99.9999% accurate when confirming paternity (disproving
paternity is always 100%).
To conduct the test DNA samples must be
obtained from the alleged father and the child in question (mother's DNA
sample is optional). The source of DNA
can vary. Many companies insist on blood however, the cutting
edge technology used by Medical Genomics allows us to perform testing
on buccal (mouth) swabs. This is a non-intrusive type of DNA
collection which can be performed at home, is absolutely painless and
does not take more than 1 min (in contrast, blood can be collected
only by a qualified medical professional in hospitals or medical
centres, and the idea of needles, tubes and blood is often
uncomfortable for many people and especially children).
We offer two types of paternity tests:
the peace of mind test and
the
legally accepted test.
